Onguma Nature Reserve has more than 34,000 hectares of protected land and wildlife. Here you will have the opportunity of experiencing Africa in all its beauty and diversity. The reserve has a very popular waterhole with animals and a lodge. Bush Camp has a stunning view of the waterhole from its deck. There are over thirty different animal species.

You can spot many plains game coming to the water hole. These include kudu, giraffe, eland, oryx, hartebeest, zebra and impala. Big cats such as lions, cheetahs and leopards have become everyday residents.

The latest addition to abundant wildlife is a family of black rhinos!

More than 300 bird species are shared here. During the Namibian summer, the nature reserve becomes a birdwatcher's paradise, with thousands of species migrating to the wetlands created by the seasonal rains and ephemeral river systems.

Accommodation

The accommodation consists of five lodges. The lodges blur the line between lodge and camping. We call it glamping! You can be sure of a comfortable stay with all the lodge facilities. You can enjoy the views of a camp in the bush. There's also a campsite for travellers who want to make it alone!

General Information:

• Facilities at the airfield include a 3 X 4m cement run-up apron and a thatched lapa with a fire extinguisher.
• The travelling time from the airfield to any of the camps is approximately 20min.
• Please provide the correct Estimate Time of Arrival to our reservations department.
• Ensure you select the correct airfield and communicate with our reservations when booking.
• Unfortunately, no refuelling facilities.

Safaris

Guests can enjoy game drives on the Game Reserve. Alternatively, guests can also participate in safaris in Etosha National Park. Inside the park, you can view the various game in the largest national park in Namibia.

Location

The Nature Reserve is on the eastern side of Etosha Pan. It borders Fisher's Pan. Most of the accommodation is right next to the gate of the Etosha National Park. The Tented Camp is north, and Etosha Aoba Lodge is to the southeast. The location is ideal for visitors who appreciate conservation and wildlife. A limited number of people are allowed in Onguma.
