What to Pack when visiting Etosha. As Namibia has a typical semi-dessert climate with hot days and cool nights. It is best to always prepare for summer and winter as the temperatures can fluctuate. It is advisable to pack a sweater and/or jacket as it becomes quite cool in the evenings and early mornings. The nearest Town towards Etosha National Park are Outjo in the south and Tsumeb in the east. You can get most supplies at these to towns. Always good to support the local business in Namibia.
There is no rush when traveling towards the Etosha Pans. Plan your visit and route. Visit the local shops before entering the park. We will also recommend the local MTC or TN mobile telecom services. A local sim card will make your life easy and able you to make on route plans and changes to your holiday.
What to Pack Checklist:
- First-aid kit with all your personal medicines.
- Water supplies, you can drink the tap water, but it is salty.
- Sufficient supplies of your regular medicines.
- Sunglasses, sun protection and a hat (year-round sunshine).
- Moisturizing lotion and lip balm.
- Comfortable walking shoes.
- Swimsuits and towels.
- Binoculars and wildlife guide books.
- Battery-operated or conventional razors.
- Power banks for charging mobile phones.
- Some basic vehicle spares for emergency breakdowns.
- Tyre Pressure gauge and an air compressor.
- Food supplies for during your stay in the Park.
- Torch and spare batteries.
- Travel insurance policy and repatriation insurance.
- Telephone list with all the emergency numbers, including the numbers of family and friends back home.
- Re hydrate solutions or concentrates.
- Maps of the Park is available at most fuel stations and information centers.
- Make sure your vehicles have enough fuel when entering the park.
